Maria’s History

Maria’s is owned and managed by us, the Italiano family. We’ve been part of the Melbourne food scene since our grandfather, Natale Italiano, established the Perfect Cheese Company in 1930. While that business was sold some 50 years later, a passion for food remained in our DNA.
In 1985, we started producing authentic pasta and sauces from our premises in Fitzroy North. Thirty five years later, we are still rolling and laminating pasta the traditional way. We source the best quality ingredients like premium Australian durum semolina, Italian tomatoes, fresh local vegetables and beef from Gippsland Natural beef, and put our generations of expertise into making award-winning products.

Maria’s Today

We are still in Fitzroy North, making fresh pasta and sauces 5 days a week from our factory. Our production facilities are HACCP certified and our small, skilled team is led by cousins, Paul, Nat and Maria Italiano, who manage the daily operations of the business.
Our retail store is open Monday to Friday and Saturday morning. You can purchase fresh pasta daily, cut how you like it, right in front of you! Specials change daily and our freezers are stocked with our fabulous range of Filled Pastas. Our small deli also has a great range of products including olive oil, local cheese, artisan chocolates, gourmet Mediterranean foods, ice cream and gluten-free products.
